"Course Information" - A schedule of Courses with Scorecards

"Club Notices and Results" - Notices and Tournament Results for Clubs

FOR PLAYERS

  • Scores and Analysis
    1. The analysis function has been designed to give all skill levels the opportunity to input details of their game, and receive back analysis of their game.

      "Just Like the Pros"

By loading information about their scores, players can receive analysis to three levels.

Basic Analysis - From the "Basic" level, of hole-by-hole scores, you can receive a GoforGOLF report on your gross score, stableford and corrected scores, and a breakdown of Pars, Birdies, Bogeys etc. For a series of rounds on a particular course, you will also receive your average shots per hole. This analysis is free and only requires you to register to get your "access code" so that we can identify your scores.

Click Here to view a sample GoforGOLF Advanced Analysis Report

This will open in a new window. Close the window to return here.

Advanced Analysis - The advanced analysis requires you to record and load extra information on your round. This includes fairways hit, up and downs, sand saves, number of putts and penalty shots. From entering these five extra items, you will be able to receive back up to 12 more analysis results of your round or rounds. These will include:

      Driving Accuracy

      Greens in Regulation

Sand Saves / Up and Downs percentages

      Number and Average Putts

      and more . . .

If you are able to enter your ‘drive distance’, you will also get your longest
      and average drive distance.

To assist you to record your advanced analysis requirements, GoforGOLF supplies the ability to print a course and analysis card for your chosen course.

The more you load, the more detailed will be the analysis.

Note: GoforGOLF provides the facility for you to receive analysis "Just like the Pros". However, as the onus is on the player to complete their scorecard correctly, it is the responsibility of each player to ensure all necessary scores and shot details have been entered into GoforGOLF correctly.

  • Course Information
    1. To assist you to load your scores, GoforGOLF supplies a comprehensive database of course information for New Zealand and many overseas courses. This course information includes the scorecard for the course, and this is accessed when you are loading your scores, giving you an easy and efficient way to enter your scores.

"Course Information" includes course location, description and as mentioned, the scorecard for all tees. Also, for many courses, hole-by-hole descriptions with pictures, facilities available and live details of course conditions, local rules and more. Is the course open today?

If the course you played is not in our database, then you can enter it into GoforGOLF, and immediately enter your scores against it and receive the analysis of your round.

To help you find the course you played, or to search for a course you would like to play, GoforGOLF has a "course finder" that will assist you to identify the country, district and even village of the course you require.

Going on a golfing holiday? Let us help you find the courses to play.

Many club professionals have a link to their Pro Shop, giving details of their products and services. Book your golf cart, hire your clubs or even book some lessons with the pro before you start your holiday.

  • Club Notices and Results
    1. Is there a tournament on next week?

      How did I do today?

Am I in to the next round?

For the clubs that have joined,GoforGOLF supplies the club with a Notice Board and Results Board.

Notices - All the information that a club member would require can be found on the notice board whenever and from wherever they are. The latest news, upcoming events and tournaments . . .

Results – If you are playing in a tournament, then check how you and your fellow players are going. Who is in the lead and how many strokes are you behind?

    "Just Like the Pros"

    FOR THE CLUBS

  • Scores and Analysis
    1. The analysis function has been designed to give players of all skill levels the opportunity to input details of their game, and receive back analysis of their game.

This will encourage club members and non-members alike to compete against your course and want to come back time after time to improve their last score or to beat the particular hole that always gives them problems.

Analysis will give players a ‘yardstick’ to establish how their game is improving and what they should be working on.

Juniors and beginners will be able to use the analysis to determine what they should practice the most. Club representatives will be able to fine tune their game leading up to tournaments and pennant competitions.

Remember: GoforGOLF provides the facility for you to receive analysis "Just Like the Pros". However, it is the responsibility of each player to ensure all necessary scores and details have been entered correctly.

  • Course Information
    1. GoforGOLF supplies a wonderful facility for clubs to showcase their golf course to golf players in New Zealand and around the world.

The scorecard, along with the features and live information pages, hole-by-hole descriptions and pictures will encourage prospective players to select your course to play when they visit your district.

The "Live Information" page enables your course to have up-to-date information available to members and visitors at all times, notifying them of the course condition (e.g. open, closed for coring, trundlers only etc.) on a day-to-day basis.

Visitors and tourists will be able to see what facilities you have, whether they can hire equipment and carts, whether meals are available and what services are available from your golf professional.

  • Club Notices and Results
    1. The Club Notice Board and Results Board facility will enable your club to keep its members, prospective members and visitors up-to-date with events and club news at all times.

Members out of town on business or holiday will be able to keep up to date with news and events, meeting dates, upcoming tournaments and results.

Imagine members and visitors being able to check what date that favorite tournament is on this year, check the cut off date for entries, and then being able to see the results once they return home, perhaps to other parts of the country.

    SPORTS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT LTD

GoforGOLF is a joint venture of Sports Information Management Ltd and Evans Information Services Ltd. The development has been undertaken by a concise group of complementary people. This small group means that development is closely controlled, with all being personally involved and committed to the project.

Andy Evans comes from an international computer background that includes the development and installation of airline reservations systems at British Airways, Pan Am and Air New Zealand. From 1977, he worked at Air New Zealand in IT strategic planning, systems development management, and data analysis and design. In 1991, he set up his own IT consulting company which two years ago he reoriented towards the design and development of database-driven Internet applications.

Jeremy Evans has over ten years experience in the design and programming of applications for various commercial enterprises and hospitals in New Zealand and overseas. More recently, Jeremy has been specialising in the programming and graphical requirements of Internet applications and databases.

Gregory Paul comes from a background in business administration and accounting. 30 years experience in commerce includes production and inventory control systems and 10 years in sales, design, set-up and support of business systems. His interest in sports statistics dates back to his days as a New Zealand Yachting representative, with the increased use and acceptance of the Internet now providing the ability to progress his earlier ambitions.

Sports Information Management Ltd’s aim is to produce web sites for sports that give all players and participants, no matter what their level, the opportunity to receive analysis and assistance "Just Like the Pros". Further to this ambition is to supply the sports clubs with a facility by which they can provide their members, as well as the general public, with news and results that are up-to-date and, where possible, live.

We believe that in GoforGOLF we have created an international standard web site that has achieved this aim. We are also very pleased that in achieving this, we are to be able to showcase the golf courses of New Zealand, and we hope ultimately that this web site will develop into an international resource of golf courses.

It is my experience that golf players are the same irrespective of where you are from, where you are going, or how far you have travelled, as long as you enjoy your game.

"A good walk spoilt by a game of golf"

is the quotable quote, but it is always stated with a smile of enjoyment on one's face.

If, as a Kiwi, I did not initially and proudly consider New Zealand to be the first region of players and clubs to support and promote GoforGOLF, then I would not be a Kiwi (New Zealand) sportsman. However, it is my wish and intention that this Internet facility supply golf analysis, "Just Like the Pros", course information and club news and results, to all golf players no matter where in the world they happen to be playing.

    Greg Paul
