The PLAYERS CHampionship . . . at The TPC Sawgrass, with the infamous ISLAND green . . . 17th hole Tiger misses some 5 to 6 weeks after surgery on his knee. Neatly positioned between the Majors, Tiger only misses the so called 5th Major, The PLAYERS Championship. Still he does risk his first place on the FedEX Points table. Will any of the chasing group, Mickelson, Cink or Singh, take advantage of Tiger's absence. . . . We shouldn't forget that the 2008 RYDERS CUP approaches in September this year, and so places in the two teams are also up for grabs. SEPTEMBER 16 to 21st 2008 at Valhalla Golf Club, Kentucky. Both Team Captains, Nick Faldo and Paul Azinger will be taking special notice of the points tables . . . Present European team leaders . . . Lee Westwood, Henrick Stenson, Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and Daniel Chopra. For USA . . . YES . . . Tiger Woods . . . THEN . . . Stewart Cink, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Boo Weekley This is only the top 5 at the moment . . . on each tour . . . It will be interesting to watch what happens over the months. . . . TO DATE, the 2008 Golf Season has not let us down, with some fantastic play as well as some close and exciting finishes.
