*** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES
YES - A hole in one on the 14th at Warkworth Golf Club, by a lady member of GoforGOLF. Well Done.
AND - Two Eagles by the same chap, on the 7th and 15th holes at Northland Golf Club during April. Well done Rob Dinsdale.
Rob writes ". . . as close to an albatross as I have been".
"The 7th at Northland is a short par 5 and you often have the prevailling wind behind you. At 419 metres it's pretty easy to hit in two with the summer run. I hit a good drive about 280 metres and hit a solid 8 iron to within 6 inches. Easiest eagle I've ever had".
Keep it up Rob.

*** MAY COMPETITION 2 BY 2
Two chances to win Two GoforGOLF Sports Caps.
The Recent 2000 Shell Houston Open played at the TPC at The Woodlands, Texas, from 27th to 30th April, produced a truly memorable finish, going to the 4th Sudden-Death hole.
Memorable also for the winner, from Australia, winning his first US Tour event, and for the second placed, a regular on the tour, missing out on his first victory for several years when appearing to have it in his grasp several times.
Answer these two simple questions to be in the draw for:
Two GoforGOLF Sports Caps

*** Slope Rating & Handicapping System
The GoforGOLF upgrade is nearing completion. It has taken longer to do than first envisaged, but incorporates a number of other improvements to GoforGOLF facilities as well.
Rest assured that it will be worth the wait and that we are continually working to bring you a better and more useful golf resource.
*** For the Inquisitive
There are a number of web sites that have information on the Slope system. These include simple overviews and historical articles, through to detailed explanations with full formulas etc. The USGA website has their Slope Manual online.
Try these:

www.usga.com/handicap

and keep an eye on GoforGOLF for further info.

*** HandiTIPS
1. Up and Downs - Advanced Analysis - The GoforGOLF web site has been designed so that you can put your own definition to the 'Up and Downs', and as long as you are consistent with your definition, your reports will be consistent and comparable.
For a Pro or scratch golfer, an 'Up and Down' is where he/she has missed the green for their GIR, (green in regulation), and still achieves par (usually with a chip and one putt).
However, for us (mid and high handicap players), it can be defined as:
So choose one of these options, and remain consistent with your recording of your results, and you will be able to compare your analysis results.
2. Analysis - the more scorecards you enter and the longer the period your scorecards cover, the better the analysis you will receive. e.g. consider comparing your results this summer to last summer, or your summer results to your winter results etc.
Hope this helps you enjoy your golf game.
Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses.
REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF.

*** MORE SPORTS LINKS
THE US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP is the next Major coming up in June, and is to be played on the famous Pebble Beach Links Course.
The Pebble Beach Links website has a wonderful tour of the course,
giving a huge amount of information on each hole. Well worth a visit
before the event, so that you are familiar with the course.
www.pebblebeach.com
The official website has just been launched. This includes a 3D
view of a number of holes. It does need some extra software.
It also reminds us of the tragic death of Payne Stewart, who was
the reigning Open champion.

I haven't found many special sites for this months tournaments, although there is plenty of coverage through the many US magazine and newspaper websites.
Go to www.monstercrawler.com and enter the event name in the search and see what you get.
