Although 2008 was a terrific year of golf worldwide, What have we got happening in this new year. Well, it starts with the Race to Dubai, the New initiative for the European Tour. The European Tour have already made interesting moves, having started the 2009 season in late 2008, and also including more and more countries in their schedule, making it more like THE World Wide Golf Tour. There are some changes to the FedEx Cup, now in it's 3rd year. I believe that players will not carry their points into the finals, giving all who qualify, an equal chance to win the $10 million. I will confirm this later. We have the retirement of Annika Sorenstam . . . will that last? and how much difference will that have on the the Ladies Tours, Annika having split her time over both. . . . AND we have the return of Tiger Woods . . . Will he return with his Kiwi Caddie, Steve Williams, and how will Phil Mickelson like that when they meet. (Great humour from my point of view). How long will it take for Tiger to get back into form . . . I don't think he will return until he is IN FORM, and will give himself a few tournamnents to get some MATCH practice before the first Major . . . The Masters on 9th April. Let's see if I am right . . . you can quote me . . . I also look forward to seeing the progress of Vijay after his terrific end of season play, the exploits of Ernie Els and my favourate (old guy) Freddie Couples, on their return to some good form after injuries. I could continue . . . still let that be sufficient at the moment and I will try to keep you updated over the months with more details of the Race to Dubai and FedEx Cup, and other news, tournaments and events. Hope you enjoy the GoforGOLF Newsletter, the links to the Tournament and Course websites. Best Regards for 2009 Just Remember . . . . . . Even the present world problems are forgotten . . . Entering a NEW Course - STROKE Many terms in golf vary from country to country. When entering a new course into GoforGOLF the term 'Stroke' is often missinterpreted as your first score. However, it is necessary to enter the course first, before you are able to enter your score. The term 'Stroke' refers to 'Stroke Index' which is often referred to as 'Handicap' on many scorecards. This is the rating of the hole between 1 and 18, where 1 is the hardest hole, and 18 is the easiest. Each hole must have a unique 'Stroke' number. Don't get this confused with PAR, also know as Par Rating, which is the number of shots a zero handicap player is expected to take on that hole, usually 3, 4 or 5. 2. Entering a TEST score You are welcome to enter a Test score in GoforGOLF to see what it can do for you, and how it will react to a certain circumstance or input. However, PLEASE DELETE PLEASE DELETE it when you are finished. If left in your record, it will cause incorrect information and statistics to be calculated, reducing the usefulness of YOUR record. To Delete a score, Sign In as if to enter a score, highlight the score concerned in the orange box, and click the 'Delete Score' button below. Check that it is the score you wish the delete and confirm by clicking the "Delete Score" button below the score displayed. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** MORE GOLF & SPORTS LINKS The 2009 European season has started in the Southern Hemisphere, with co sanctioned tournaments in the Race to Diba, while the 2009 US PGA Tour is starting in Hawaii with the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the first tournament of the 2009 FEDEX Cup Championship.
