Advanced Analysis . . . Up & Downs . . . Sand Saves GoforGOLF has been set up to enable all golfers to use the analysis to your advantage, to help you improve your game. Being an average golfer myself, I know how difficult it is to achieve a GIR, Green in Regulation, so I set GoforGOLF up to be flexible on the way extra information is entered. While GIR's are calculated the same as the Pros, there are various analysies that do not require you to play like a Pro, to achieve useful analysis HOWEVER, it does rely on you, the player, being consistent with YOUR interpretation of the results entered. As long as you are consistent, GoforGOLF will tell you where you are improving and where you need to spend some time working on. 2. Interpretation . . . Up & Downs . . . Sand Saves I hope you have had the patience to read the above and want to continue. I have had a few enquiries recently regarding "up & Downs" and "Sand Saves" so it is an appropriate time to explain both factors as they can be recorded in GoforGOLF. To explain "Sand Saves": For a Professional or Low handicap Golfer, a "sand save" is where their approach shot has ended in a greenside bunker. If they chip out of the bunker and then sink their first putt, they have achieved a Sand Save . . . same for us . . . Similarly "Up and Down" . . . If a Pro misses hitting the green close with their approach shot, 2nd shot on a par 4, where they should be able to hit the green, then if they chip onto the green and then sink their first putt, they have achieved an "Up and Down" Consistent recording: For the average golfer, who strays every now and then, then instead of it being your "2nd shot", replace that with "your approach shot" . . . That is the shot that "YOU" feel you should be able to hit the green, and have probably just missed the green, or have caught that green side bunker. NOW . . . you tick the box that you are going to attempt an Up and Down, or Sand Save. Then if you do chip and succeed with your ONE PUTT, you have achieved . . . YOUR . . . "Up and Down or Sand Save . . . " If you need further help with this please do not hesitate to email me. Greg at: greg@goforgolf.com REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** MORE GOLF & SPORTS LINKS The 2009 US Open is only a couple of weeks away: For updated news try: http://www.usopen.com And course coverage: Bethpage State Park, New York http://nysparks.state.ny.us/golf/info.asp?golfID=12 (If some sites don't seem to load on the first attempt - try a second time) The USPGA Tour for June 2009: 4 to 7 Jun the Memorial Tournament Muirfield Village GC, OH http://www.thememorialtournament.com/ http://www.tccmv.com/ 11 to 14 Jun St Jude Championship TPC Southwind, TN http://www.stanfordstjude.com/ http://www.tpcatsouthwind.com/ 18 to 21 Jun U S Open Championship Bethpage State Park, NY http://www.usopen.com/en_US/course/index.html http://usga.usopen.com/course/index.html Click the image for each hole http://nysparks.state.ny.us/golf/info.asp?golfID=12 http://www.bethpageproshop.com/ 25 to 28 Jun Travelers Championship TPC River Highlands, CT http://www.travelerschampionship.com/ http://www.tpcatriverhighlands.com/ 2 to 5 Jul AT&T National Congressional CC, MD http://www.attnational.org/ hosted by Tiger Woods http://www.ccclub.org/ The 2009 European Tour: 4 to 7 Jun the Celtic Manor Wales Open Celtic Manor Resort, Wales http://www.walesopen.com/ http://www.celtic-manor.com/golf.aspx 18 to 21 Jun open de St Omer Aa St Omer GC, France http://www.golfopensaintomer.com/ http://www.aa-st-omer-golfclub.com/ 25 to 28 Jun BMW International Open Golfclub Munchen Eichenried http://bmw-golfsport.com/gs/en/ http://www.gc-eichenried.de/ 2 to 5 Jul Open de France Le Golf National, Paris, Fr http://www.opendefrance.fr/ http://www.golf-national.com/ The 2009 US Ladies LPGA Tour 4 to 7 Jun LPGA State Farm Classic Panther Creek CC, IL http://www.lpgastatefarmclassic.com/ http://www.panthercreekcc.com/ 11 to 14 Jun McDonalds LPGA Championship Bulle Rock GC, MD http://www.mcdslpgachampionship.com/ http://www.bullerockgolf.com/ 25 to 28 Jun Wegmans Rochester International Locust Hill CC, NY http://www.wegmanslpga.org/ http://www.locusthillgolfcourse.com/ 2 to 5 Jul Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Highland Meadows, OH http://www.jamiefarrowenscorning.com/ http://www.highlandmeadows.com/ 9 to 12 Jul U S Women's Open Saucon Valley CC, PA http://www.2009uswomensopen.com/ http://www.sauconvalleycc.org/ The 2009 EUROPEAN Ladies Tour 5 to 7 Jun ABN AMRO Ladies Open Eindhovensche Golf, Holland http://www.abnamroladiesopen.nl/ http://www.eindhovenschegolf.nl/ 12 to 14 Jun Ladies Open de Portugal Golden Eagle GC, Portugal http://www.ladieseuropeantour.com/ http://www.goldeneagle-golfresort.com/en/golfe_en.htm 26 to 28 Jun AIB Ladies Irish Open Portmarnock Hotel & Golf http://www.aibladiesirishopen.ie/ http://www.portmarnock.com/golf.php 2 to 4 Jul SAS Masters Larvik GC, Norway http://www.larvikgolf.no/ Many of the above courses are in the GoforGOLF course directory And other sporting sites, http://www.rolandgarros.com/ French Tennis Open - Continues http://www.cricket20.com/ Twenty20 Cricket World Cup Commences 5th June at Lords http://www.allblacks.com/ International season against France & Italy starts 13th June http://www.wimbledon.org/ Wimbledon Championship - starts 22nd June http://www.letour.fr/ Tour de France commences 4th July This website gives you all the info Check it again when the event starts And for some more Golf stuff: http://www.golfprints.net/ Some great Golf prints for a guys Den http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/presidentscup/ 2009 Presidents Cup, October And for something different: http://www.planetsolar.org/bateau.en.php *** http://www.goforgolf.co.nz/links.asp *** If you find any other interesting web sites for these tournaments, or other sports sites, please let me know. __________________________________________________________ *** DYING PUTT " A putt that did not sink but came to rest at the hole, as opposed to a putt that run way by and still has a long and challemging life ahead of it full of many hard knocks and ups and downs " Definition from "Golf'ing - a Duffers Dictionary" __________________________________________________________ *** More New Courses - Worldwide The Course Directory - more added EVERY DAY.
