Registrations have increased by 60%, new courses by 40% and scorecards entered by over 60% now totalling 17,000. We now have several GoforGOLFers with in excess of 200 scorecards entered with one having entered 345 scorecards. Well Done. The interesting statistic is, that the percentage of Men to Women, has changed little since the start of GoforGOLF, with 89% being men to 11% women. We will continue to work on GoforGOLF and improve the facilities provided during 2003. 2003 What can we expect this year? Will Tiger continue his superiority? or will Ernie Els show some more of his 2002 form and edge closer to Tiger. And what about the likes of Phil Mickelson, Vijah Singh, and the young ones, Sergio Garcia, Charles Howell III, rookies like Peter Lonard and the Kiwi Kontent, with Phil Tataurangi, Michael Campbell, David Smail. And then there is the European Tour with Retief Goosen and Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie and Eduado Romero and Sergio. The young ones again making a run, Adam Scott and Justin Rose. Include the Ladies, Annika Sorenstam being chased by Se Ri Pak, Karrie Webb, Grace Park, Juli Inkster and Laura Diaz, and all those that I have missed, and I do not think we will have any problem in 2003 in following some terrific golf. And don't forget Lynnette Brookie, Sam Hunt & Eddie Lee. Keep up with the results in Slice o' NEWS http://www.goforgolf.com/a_sliceonews.asp MY ONLY GRIPE - Course Maintenance After having had a great holiday break, with 6 rounds of golf in 9 days, as many games as I have had in the previous 11 months, I didn't want to say anything negative. (I nearly remembered how to swing a club). I appreciate the efforts of the course maintenance staff and support and acknowledge their work, and their need to interrupt ones play from time to time. That is not in question. HOWEVER, Since I have a forum to do it, I want to plead to the course maintenance managers and staff to make a small change to their training and procedures. PLEASE "MOW the course and greens in the reverse order of the holes". This will mean that any player or playing group will only get disturb ONCE in their round. Isn't this logical? - Unfortunately, on one occassion, the man on the mower mowed our green as we tried to hit our approaches . . . FOR THREE holes in a row. Since my form was just coming back, it was a disturbance I could have done without, and I do feel it is not too much to ask. If you have any response, or suggestions and comments please email me on greg@goforgolf.com Wishing you all a great 2003 of GOLF. We hope that GoforGOLF helps you enjoy your golf. This time it was on the shortest par 3 at Waitoa Park, the 109 meter 14th. I hit a p/w straight but I thought that it was short and muttered something to that effect under my breath, when the ball took a bit of a bounce and ran on and disappeared." Herb tells us, "I used an eight iron on the 7th, it had a couple of bounces then in the hole." REMEMBER TO TICK SLOPE If you live in the country that uses the USGA Slope Rating system, make sure you tick the box 'Use the Slope Rating for Score Entry'. If you haven't, the 'Sign In' and click the 'Change your Details' button on the green menu. The advantage is that if you are in a Slope Rating country, that, when you are enter you score card, and you enter you 'Handicap Index', GoforGOLF will calculate your 'Course Handicap", and apply it to your scorecard entered, to give you the correct stableford points, and corrested score. 3. The Course Finder has been improved and now gives further options. The input boxes have been numbered to help. 1. Select a Country - All selections from now will search the country selected.
