Newsletter Number 87 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 8TH YEAR with over 39,000 scorecards entered and courses from over 54 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** How Bizarre *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN the GoforGOLF sponsored ONE Dozen Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Clubhead Covers ************************************************************************ *** HOW BIZARRE Did you see the bizarre event when Tiger Woods hit his ball onto the roof of the club house. What happenned to the 5 minute rule for lost balls, the out of bounds line around the club house etc. Does being No 1 give you special rights that allow a 30 to 40 minute delay. I must say though, that none of what occurred by the officials was instigated by Tiger, he was but a passenger. *** RYDER CUP 22 to 24 September The Teams have now been decided, with Europe choosing Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke as the captains choice, and USA, Scott Verplank and Stewart Cink. See below for details of the September Spot the Ball Contest. __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES No GoforGOLF Eagles during August, but, we have a hole in one. 8th Aug Melfort Golf & Country Club 3rd White Tee I did have an email recently from Thomas. He said "Today I played the hole, (15th at Virginia National), 3 iron, 4 iron, gap wedge. The gap wedge was from about 40 yards. I tried to hit a punch, but in actual fact, I sort of skulled it, but with great spin and on the correct line. The shot hit just on the front of the green and tracked toward the pin, hitting it dead centre and dropping into the hole!" Remember to enter your score in GoforGOLF Thomas, and create a record of your eagle. Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. (Our promise of confidentiality does not allow us to publish your names, without your permission - let us know if you make a hole in one, eagle or albatross). _________________________________________________________ *** SEPTEMBER COMPETITION Presently sponsored by GoforGOLF ONE Dozen Golf Balls " SPOT the BALL " To enter the contest, enter the coordinates of the position you think the ball is. A REAL Handi Tip A most useful tip to know is that if you click on the GoforGOLF logo on the top left of each page, it will return you to the Home Page. Very helpful if you get lost on GoforGOLF 2. Internet Things You may from time to time have a problem with your connection to GoforGOLF. This is most likely an internet problem, and not a problem with the GoforGOLF website. If you leave it for a short time, then try again, more than likely the connection will occur without a problem. Similarly, the links to courses and tournaments below, often do not seem to connect. However, if you try again, more than likely they will link with out any furthe problem. 3. Added a course recently ? Don't forget to add the other tees for the course. Go to the 'Enter a Score' page, and in the second/yellow box, you will find an 'Add Tee' button alongside the Current Tee display. You don't have to enter the club details again, just the information for the new tee. (Tick the box at the end of the line, if you are entering a Ladies Tee - This enable different 'Hole Strokes' from the mens tee). It's easy Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** SPOT THE BALL SPONSOR REQUIRED We are looking for a NEW sponsor of the Spot the Ball competition.
